GREETINGS from BRAD AND SUE HOYT from the HONDURAS BAY ISLANDS
Brad and Sue Hoyt took a break from their busy Oregon lives in Portland-Hood River, to join us in the beautiful Bay Islands of Honduras. Tropical rain forests, world-class diving, beautiful sailing and wonderful friendly people made for a memorable vacation for all of us.

May 2009 - Bay Islands of Honduras What a pleasure to have Brad and Sue Hoyt back on board!They last visited with their daughter Valerie when we were exploring the Lycian Coast of Turkey. This time they joined us in the beautiful Bay Islands off the coast of Honduras.
These Bay Islands are famous for their world class diving. They abound in tropical rain forests and are surrounded by barrier reefs teeming with healthy, bright multi-colored coral. The anchorages are spectacular and visitors are welcome to dive/snorkel the many marine parks.
We met Brad and Sue at the Roatan airport and took them to our boat anchored at Fantasy island. From there we sailed to West End where we dove and snorkeled the many nearby dive sites. The following day we rented a car and explored the inland part of the island, visiting the Carambola Botanical Garden in Sandy Bay which stretches up through a ravine to the top of a mountain overlooking Antony's Cay Resort. Later we took a guided skiff tour through the mangrove "canals" in Oak Ridge and Jonesville used by the local fishermen to travel within the reef, then watched the sunset from the Cliff House.
Ready for another adventure, we sailed to Big Hog Island in the Cayos Cochinos Archipelago, a sparsely populated set of islands affiliated with the Smithsonian Institute. At Hog Island we had sunset drinks with a couple who built the house of their dreams overlooking the anchorage.
From there we sailed to Utila, anchoring off Utila Town, popular with the young European back-packer set. Finally we returned to West End, Roatan, where Brad and Sue flew back to Portland. We miss you already and look forward to your return.
