Joanne, and Tommy Pope Rejoin us, this time in the San Blas Islands, Panama
September 2009 - Wendy's sister Joanne and her husband Tommy Pope joined us in the San Blas (Kuna Yala) Islands off the Caribbean coast of Panama. This is their third time on the boat, having previously vacationed with us in the Greek Islands and Aruba. We were thrilled to have them back. They were celebrating their wedding anniversary and Joanne's Birthday.
We had a wonderful time exploring the islands, and getting to know the native Kunas. These indiginous indians produce beautiful, handcrafted "molas", which are reverse applique textiles, which were originally created for their traditional dress. The Kunas would paddle to the boat in their dugout canoes, called "ulus", and show us their colorful fabrics. Lisa, our friend and expert mola maker, was our favorite. The time went too quickly, and we look forward to getting you back to the boat for another vacation adventure.
