Hanspeter and Esther Joined Us for the Passage between Cartagena and Panama
January 2010 - Hanspeter and Esther have been traveling around South America for the past 5 years in a Toyota Land Cruiser. The only way to get their car from Colombia to Panama was to load it onto a freighter and meet it when it arrived in Panama. This gave them the opportunity to join Worldwide Traveler for the sailing passage.
After leaving Cartagena, we stopped off briefly at Isla Baru, a beautiful quiet anchorage about 20 miles south of Cartagena. Then we headed to the San Blas Islands of Panama. The native Kuna Yala Indians make beautiful handcrafted “molas”, colorful textiles using reverse appliqué techniques. It was a pleasure having Hanspeter and Esther aboard. After 5 years of traveling around in a Toyota Land Cruiser, they certainly know how to pack light.
